Keeping your fish alive in the cooler months!

For us here in Australia the weather is turning cooler and we are heading into our winter months. For us humans we just put on warmer clothes but for our Barramundi and Jade Perch the cold weather can kill them off. Hence, getting the tanks to have stable water temperature and not to drop into the deadly temperature range has been our focus over the last few weeks.

We have come up with a solution which we have installed into our Rush Creek System and are testing at present. It is designed to not let the temperature drop below 20 degrees so as to keep the fish and the plants happy. Both our species of fish do not take well to low temperature.

In winter the feeding slows for the fish so you have to adjust the food level accordingly, then it stands to reason that the plant crop will also be a little slower.
